Flexible Degree Structure
Client: Griffith University
Format: Animated explainer
Role: Storyboard, Graphic Design & Co-Lead Visual Direction
Overview
Griffith University introduced a new flexible degree structure to give students greater control over their study pathways while aligning with industry demand.
I collaborated within the Content and Creative Services Studio (CCS) to translate this structural reform into a clear, student-centred animated explainer — simplifying complex academic architecture into an intuitive visual narrative.
The Challenge
The new framework increased modularity and choice but risked confusion across diverse audiences, including prospective students, current students, and advisors.
The objective was to:
• Reduce ambiguity around pathway selection
• Communicate reform in plain language
• Align with university brand standards
• Develop a scalable system for future degree formats
Approach
I influenced key simplification decisions, reframing the structure as a visual journey rather than an institutional diagram.
Co-leading visual direction, I developed a modular design system including:
• Colour-coded pathway logic
• Simplified character assets
• Flexible layout components
• Scalable diagram frameworks
An interactive storyboard process in Miro enabled early stakeholder alignment, significantly reducing revision cycles during production.
Outcome
• 4,115 impressions on the Griffith website
• 576 video views
• A reusable visual system for future academic communications
• More explicit articulation of flexible study pathways
This project demonstrates my ability to translate complex institutional systems into accessible, scalable communication tools.
