Learning in Motion
Client: Teach Starter
Role: Concept Development, Illustration, Storyboarding & Animation
Overview
During my time at Teach Starter, I developed a body of motion-led educational work spanning curriculum resources, environmental awareness campaigns and podcast promotion.
Working closely with content writers, teachers, and the marketing team, I translated pedagogical objectives into visually engaging animated systems tailored for primary students in Years 1–6.
These projects demonstrate concept development, illustration craft, motion design and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced education publishing environment.
World Environment Day – Homepage Campaign (2019)
Concept, Illustration & Animation
To mark the UN’s World Environment Day theme of Air Pollution, I pitched three initial concepts exploring how to communicate environmental responsibility to primary students.
After presenting and refining the selected direction, I developed the whole visual system — from Procreate sketches to vector asset creation and final animation. The piece remained on the Teach Starter homepage for one month and my staff profile feature on the company blog.
This project was particularly meaningful to me because it aligned my environmental values with educational storytelling.
Demonstrates:
Concept pitching · End-to-end production · Illustration systems · Campaign visibility
For the Love of Teaching – Podcast Identity & Launch Campaign
Brand Identity, Storyboard & Animation
For the launch of Teach Starter’s podcast, I designed the podcast lockup, icon and cover artwork, establishing a visual identity aligned with brand guidelines while introducing a more dynamic tone.
I storyboarded and animated a 15-second promotional video using original audio and voice-over from the host. The podcast ranked among the top three educational podcasts in Australia and continues to use the identity system developed for its launch.
Demonstrates:
Brand development · Motion advertising · Cross-team collaboration · Enduring identity design
Group Sounds – Multiplication Learning Resource
Video Editing, Production Support & Educational Assets
This early multiplication resource combined filmed performance with structured listening activities.
I assisted during filming and edited the full-length instructional video, alongside producing supporting worksheets and a short-form teaser for social media distribution.
The project highlights my ability to integrate video, print resources and digital promotion into a cohesive learning package.
Demonstrates:
Educational video editing · Resource integration · Multi-format delivery
Weather Report – Interactive Classroom Experience
Interactive Design, Title Animation & Resource Development
Developed in collaboration with a resource producer, this interactive PowerPoint experience enabled students to practice public speaking and observation skills through simulated weather reporting.
I co-designed the interactive presentation, created the opening title animation to enhance realism, and developed supporting worksheets and classroom materials.
The result was a complete classroom system that combined motion, interaction, and print.
Demonstrates:
Interactive learning design · Classroom systems thinking · Motion for engagement
Famous Faces of Yesteryear – Interview Skills Resource
Typography Customisation & Production Collaboration
Designed as an introduction to interview techniques, this talk-show-style educational video required a distinctive typographic treatment and coordinated production support.
I customised the typography for the opening title sequence and collaborated during filming, contributing to the resource's overall visual coherence.
Demonstrates:
Collaborative production · Typographic adaptation · Educational storytelling
Impact
While platform analytics are internal to Teach Starter, all projects remain live within the company’s resource library, and the podcast identity continues to be used — reflecting sustained value and design durability.
Collectively, this body of work demonstrates:
• Concept development and pitching
• Illustration versatility across age groups
• Motion design for educational clarity
• Curriculum-aligned communication
• Collaborative production within publishing workflows
• Ability to translate learning objectives into visual systems
